About Us
Founded more than two decades ago, R F Timberlake & Company was created to fill the needs of clients who wanted straight answers and straight-forward solutions to advertising and marketing challenges; and to serve clients who wanted the shroud of confusion and ambiguity removed from the marketing sector, both internal and external.
We offer at least three levels of services to fit budgets, company sizes and other such criteria. Examples include multi-level creative and design services, print and collateral, web design and operation, and consulting services.
Sometimes we are consultants. Sometimes we are strategic partners. Sometimes we are service providers. Sometimes we are all of those and more. Who we are isn’t necessarily about us. It’s about our clients' companies and about their needs. Who we are to your company depends on your needs.
About Our Founder
R. Frank Timberlake
A nationally recognized communications leader, Frank Timberlake has spent his entire career perfecting better ways to communicate, first to his audience and later on, to the audiences of his company’s clients. As an award-winning broadcast journalist, he formed regional broadcast and print news exchanges for business and for agriculture. He established regional networks for planting and harvesting information for farmers and was a pioneer broadcaster in the south as one of the first to broadcast several farm information networks. For various candidates of both leading parties, he later ran 14 successful campaigns, losing none. Journalism turned to sales and sales turned to multiple station ownership, followed by an executive position with a 200-plus property broadcasting and print conglomerate. Educated in political science at East Carolina University and broadcasting at Central Carolina Community College, Frank took a two-year hiatus at the latter to return to the college to operate the campus station, teach a full compliment of courses and to re-write eight courses during his tenure. To this day, he remains the only graduate to deliver a commencement address.
Having started a small marketing and media company with several political clients and banks, Frank wanted to communicate through all the mediums, so building a full service marketing communications firm became his passion, leading to the incorporation of R F Timberlake & Company in 1990. Building the company from that point, Frank also made time for affiliations with larger advertising firms with national and international clientele. He continued his pioneering spirit to be one of the first marketers to involve professional peers and referring physicians in a medical specialty campaign launches with receptions, open houses and PR. He and the company have some successful and interesting benchmarks and case studies he would love to share with you. He would also like to tell you about some of dynamic consultants he’s added to the team.
With the firm’s team of dedicated employees, consultants and contractors, you’ll find Frank and his partner, Linda, everyday at the forefront of client opportunities and challenges. But somehow he makes time to serve his community, state and nation. He has served on more than 20 professionally related boards and commissions, including his present service as immediate past president and board member of the Carolinas-Virginia chapter of the National Agri-Marketing Association. He has served as an Ambassador and Ag Day Chair for the national arm of NAMA, and currently serves as an Advocate and as a Mentor. He's the former chairman and vice-chairman of the NC Agricultural Finance Authority and continues to serve on the board. Frank helped attendance at Historic Oak View Park boom over eight years from 20,000 to over 125,000 visitors last year when he stepped down as chairman of the board, but not before Wake County named the new amphitheatre in his honor. In 2002, Business Leader Magazine in Raleigh named him to Impact 100, the publication's list of the top civic-minded and influential business people in the Triangle. In 2006, he was recognized with an Unsung Hero award from Wake County, which two years earlier recognized him with the Ray Wilkinson Special Service Award.
There' a lot more to Frank's story and to the story of R F Timberlake & Company. You should give Frank an opportunity to tell you. That would be one of his greatest honors.
